Verdict - Nikhil blows up flavor, can’t match up to original
Starring : Nikhil, Simran Pareenja, Samyuktha Hegde
Director : Sharan Koppisetty
Producer : Anil Sunkara
Music Director : B. Ajaneesh Lokanath
Editor : M. R. Varmaa
Nikhil is the young talented tollywood actor, who is introduced with 'Happy days' movie. Nikhil's latest film 'Kirrak Party' is directed by Sharan koppisettey and 'Kirrak party' is one film which has been awaited with huge eagerness from a long time. Remake of a kannada sensation hit movie 'Kirrik Party', this film has hit the screens today. Let's talk about the movie.
Krishna(Nikhil) is a happy go lucky engineering student who spends a mischevious life along with his group of friends. He falls in love with his senior Meera(Simran) and when everything seems to be going fine, a tragic incident changes Krishna’s life upside down. Rest of the story is as to how Krishna manages to solve all his problems and comes out as a successful student and sincere human being.
Presenting other language college backdrop story well in a movie is a huge task. As the known experiences like 'Happy days' movie is a super hit in tollywood but when it gets remake into other languages it has fail to recreate the magic. Imagine recreating the experiences, magic and emotions in film with characters enacting all roles equally well and still managing to keep each one unique. That's a huge difficult thing to do for anyone. This is the reason why star director's will not try to remake the other language film's.
There is not much of a story in this film. It is about the emotions and experiences of the hero which spread over four years, director Sharan Kopisetty, he has done a appropriate job with the film. Though he does not develop any ridiculous comedy or perfect passion between the lead hero and heroine, he presents the film on a respectable note. He doesn't spoil the flavor of original film, even though he unsuccessful in the first half, he makes it better during the last 20 minutes as scenes presenting hero’s recognition end the film on a decent note. If you have watched the Kannada version, this one will make you a little nostalgic and a little wistful. Especially, after listening to the similar background score and a few songs with same beats. Production values are good.
Nikhil is pretty good as Krishna. Kirrak Party is completely belongs to Nikhil as he is extremely good with his performance. Audience will see a new updated version of the young hero as the youth and female fans will love him in his role. The way he has presented variations in his characters and performance is extraordinary. More new faces has seen in the film, all the new comers performed in an extremely natural way. Simran Pareenja fails to recreate the magic and her looks are not so attractive more over she did not get enough scope to perform. Samyuktha Hegde is a pretty good actress, she oozed natural expressions in all her scenes. She steals the show with her behaviour and at period delicate expressions.
Plus points :
* Nikhil and Samyuktha hegde performance
* Last 20 minutes (Climax)
* Appropriate direction
* Excellent college setup
Minus points :
* Cinematography fails to capture the natural flair of the Kannada film.
* Comedy is not up to the mark.
* Romance between the lead pair is not good.
* Songs picturizing is not fair.
On a whole, 'Kirrak Party' is incidentally similar to the perfectly executed 2004 Telugu recreation Na Autograph of the Tamil original, Autograph. However, similarities aside, Kirrak Party is the Telugu remake of the Kannada film. But compare the two the telugu Kirrak party little bit falls short. If you stop drawing comparisons from the original and go with an open mind, Kirrak Party is one youthful entertainer which will keep you addicted throughout and makes up for a good watch this weekend.
