Telangana Shakuntala was a popular character artist, villain and omedian. She was known for her Telangana dialect and hence the name and punch dialogues took a remarkable fame in Tollywood film industry. She was well received for her movies like Osey Ramulamma, Nuvvu Nenu, Okkadu and Veede etc.,. She also acted in Tamil movies too.
Telangana Shakuntala was born in a Maharastrian family. Her father is an army officer and her mother is a house wife. She has two sisters too. She started her film career by playing a character role in 1979 Telugu film Maa Bhoomi directed by Goutam Ghose. She was popular with the dialogue 'Nee Thalli' in Nuvvu Nenu. She used to speak fluently in Telangana and Rayalaseema accents very well in her roles. She was often called as the next Suryakantham with her diversified roles. She was married and had two children, a daughter and a son. She has won a Nandi award too in the year 1980.
Telangana Shakuntala suffered a cardiac arrest at her residence in Hyderabad on the night of June 14, 2014. She was admitted to Narayana Hrudayalaya, where she was declared dead upon arrival.
